The course discusses the quantisation of relativistic fields towards formulating Quantum Electrodynamics. It introduces the notion of scalar, spinor and vector fields and it describes their elementary interactions in terms of correlation functions and scattering amplitudes including radiative corrections.
An introduction to two-dimensional conformal field theorywill be given.
String theory is an attempt to quantise gravity and unite it with the other fundamental forces of nature. It is related to numerous interesting topics and questions in quantum field theory. In this course, an introduction to the basics of string theory is provided.
