A deepened understanding of the relationship between inner and outer world and insights out of transpersonal dreams give an enlarged view of environmental problems. For this, fundamentals of today’s dream understanding and the function of dreams in the history of mankind are given. The amplification method is introduced by means of archetypal dreams, referring to the environmental problem.

A deepened understanding for social change and the roots of our environmental problem is acquired by a historical overview of both the human-environment-relationship and its changing in different cultures and of the social relationship, its changing and environmental impact. Conclusions regarding the treatment of environmental problems as well as to future guidelines for environmental education.

The human dimension of problems is introduced by analizing rural populations forced to cope with the conflict of tradition and progress, specifically by the changing of social relations in rural communities and the changing man-milieu- and city-town-relationship. Main technical terms and questions of rural sociology are introduced as well as methods of social research.

Coping with complex problems, with a special focus on the human dimension, is studied by looking at rural development and culture. The importance of striving for social, spiritual and cultural sustainability is worked out. Case studies referring to current questions and problems deepen contents of "Rural Sociology I" and give insight into the possibility of applying empiric social research.
