Abstract
A deepened understanding for social change and the roots of our environmental problem is acquired by a historical overview of both the human-environment-relationship and its changing in different cultures and of the social relationship, its changing and environmental impact. Conclusions regarding the treatment of environmental problems as well as to future guidelines for environmental education.

Content
Historical overview on the human-milieu-relationship and its changing in different cultures. Historical overview on the social relationship, its changing and its impact on the environment. Conclusions regarding the treatment of environmental problems as well as to future guidelines for environmental education.
