Introduction to the physical fundamentals of structural dynamics, concepts of seismic hazard and seismic risk, as well as the normative implementation according to SIA 261 and SIA 269/8. The module combines mechanical understanding with code-based application.

In-depth examination of the seismic behaviour of existing structures according to construction type and material. The module covers masonry, reinforced concrete, timber structures, steel structures, bridges, as well as interactions with the soil and secondary elements, and introduces modelling approaches for representing seismic behaviour.

Practice-oriented deepening based on real case studies from the assessment and retrofitting of existing buildings and bridges. The module combines analytical procedures with practical implementation.

Introduction to modern approaches in structural monitoring, uncertainty quantification and risk-based decision models in earthquake engineering.
