Abstract

In-depth examination of the seismic behaviour of existing structures according to construction type and material. The module covers masonry, reinforced concrete, timber structures, steel structures, bridges, as well as interactions with the soil and secondary elements, and introduces modelling approaches for representing seismic behaviour.

Objective

The participants: - understand typical failure mechanisms of different construction types, - understand soil-structure interaction, - can include secondary elements and installations in the assessment, - are familiar with typical deficiencies in bridges and infrastructure structures, - gain insight into practical software applications.
