Effective Learning Environments (EW5)
Lernwirksam unterrichten (EW5)
Students work through the book “Lernwirksam unterrichten” (Felten/Stern) independently and answer the questions available online in preparation. In a one-hour discussion held shortly after the exam lesson, either individually or in small groups, findings from learning psychology relevant to teaching are discussed.
This seminar introduces effective use of visualizations to support learning in STEM education. Students evaluate visual tools like images, graphs, animations, simulations, and gestures for their pedagogical impact, and decide when and how to integrate them in instruction to enhance understanding while avoiding misconceptions.
Human Learning (EW1)
Menschliches Lernen (EW1)
Learning is a complex process. Knowledge is acquired not only through cognitive processes (e.g., repeated recall or reflection) but also through motivational and social processes. This lecture discusses and illustrates these diverse processes in the context of school-based learning.
This course introduces the concepts and principles of educational technology as an integral part of teaching and learning. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to design effective learning environments that integrate technologies. Another aim is to provide an overview of digital tools and emerging technologies, and guidance about how to strategically select and use them.
Teaching and Learning with Technologies
Lehren und Lernen mit Technologien
Digitization of schools is a frequently discussed topic. It is paramount to select a type of technology that matches the given learning content and learning context. The goal of this seminar is therefore to provide guidance to prospective teachers about how to strategically select and use educational technologies.
