Abstract

This course introduces the concepts and principles of educational technology as an integral part of teaching and learning. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to design effective learning environments that integrate technologies. Another aim is to provide an overview of digital tools and emerging technologies, and guidance about how to strategically select and use them.

Objective

Develop a critical and reflective mindset toward the use of educational technologies. Analyze the ethical, social, and pedagogical implications of technology use in education. Evaluate and select digital resources effectively to meet instructional goals Make informed decisions about when and how to integrate technology to enhance learning and student engagement. Design technology-enhanced instruction that fosters active, authentic, and creative learning experiences. Apply pedagogical strategies that integrate technology to support diverse learners and promote inclusive, learner-centered environments.

Content

Participants will examine the added value of educational technologies, the teacher`s role in facilitating effective use of educational technologies, and strategies for selecting and integrating appropriate digital tools. Empirical research and international standards, such as the ISTE Standards for Educators, form the basis of the coursework with a focus on the use of diverse types of educational technologies to enhance the learning of content knowledge in the STEM domains. The seminar will offer a variety of examples ranging from simulations to AI tools. The seminar meetings consist of presentations by participants as well as discussions and group work led by the instructors.
