Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:20:02
Abstract
Teachers have to support pupils in building up intelligent knowledge in their subjects. We will analyze how intelligent knowledge can be characterized, how it can be acquired, and, most importantly, how teachers can provide it. Findings from research in the field of cognitive science as well as in the field of school instruction will be discussed extensively.
Objective
The aim consists in providing the competence to create effective learning environments based upon theories of the latest central findings in research on learning and instruction.
Content
Based upon the contents of the lecture "Human Learning", it will discussed how the general learning mechanisms can be applied to the design of learning environments. In addition, we will discuss studies conducted on the effectiveness of different teaching methods (e.g. mulit-media learning).
