In collaboration with the Department of Architecture of the University of Sardinia, the course offers to work on a large-scale project in Cagliari, involving both landscape and urban design. The brief will be to reflect on the site’s potential, exploring possible new uses for it and defining new edge conditions, so as to come up with a viable proposal.

The brief will be to reflect on the site’s potential, exploring possible new uses for it and defining new edge conditions, so as to come up with a viable proposal.

The elective works serve the independent way of dealing with the contents of the elective course Theory of designed landscapes and gardens. It includes the development and the research on a selected topic of their own which is displayed in a final dissertation/report/paper.

The seminar provides an introduction to 20th-century landscape theory. Students will read texts and respond with critical commentary, view selected gardens, parks and landscapes, and develop a topic of their own, about which they will produce a final written paper.

Within three elective courses the students need to fulfill an elective work (seminar work). Elective works serve the independent way of dealing with the contents of the according elective course.
