Abstract

The lecture series starts with an introduction to the theoretical positions of contemporary landscape architecture. After this introdcution, each lecture will treat one important element of landscape design. A final lecture compares the different design strategies and discusses them critically.

Objective

„Landscape Architecture II“ complements the lectures on history and theory of designed landscapes and gardens (Landscape Architecture I). The lectures of the summer turn are dedicated to theoretical issues as well as to design strategies of contemporary landscape architecture. Students shall grasp current issues in design and the most important tasks of landscape architecture.

Content

The lecture series starts with an introduction to the theoretical positions of contemporary landscape architecture. After this introdcution, each lecture will treat one important element of landscape design such as grading, paths, choice of plants and planting, water, light, furniture, etc. A final lecture compares the different design strategies and discusses them critically.
