Consolidation of practical work in the lab with theory and literature background. Integraion of the students in ongoing research projects in the field of neuromorphology (regeneration and plasticity of the nervous system, molekular mechanisms of axonal growth, neural stem cells) and molecular cognition (genetic mouse models, molekular and cellular mechanisms of learning and memory).
Students focus on a specific policy problem and carry out applied policy research for a public or private sector institution of their own choice.

Mammalian cells will be transfected and transduced with viral vectors for production of biopharmaceuticals, for generation of artificial microtissues, as vectors in gene/cell therapy studies, for drug discovery as well as for construction of synthetic biologic gene networks. A wide array of analytical techniques, lectures and excursions to biotech companies will complement the practical part.
