Autumn Course: Landslide Process and Hazards
Herbstkurs: Gefahrenanalyse von Hanginstabilitäten
The autumn course provides current and new knowledge needed for classification, determination of the relevant processes and estimation of the temporal behaviour of geological mass movements.
This course is about the analysis of landslide phenomena, mechanisms, stability and hazard mitigation. The course is focussed on case studies covering major landslide types in the Alps (rock fall, shallow soil slides, rock slides and topples, and deep seated landslides). The course makes use of a new blended e-learning environment and includes compulsory field trips to the study sites.

Project Module: Geo-Risks
Projektmodul: Geo-Risiken
In the project module of the module group Geo-Risks the participants create a common course script for the spring and autumn course in online cooperation.
This course focusses on the principles (fundamentals) and basic concepts of rock mechanics and rock engineering (e.g. tunnelling, rock slope stability).
Spring Course: Earthquakes - processes, hazard and risk
Frühjahrskurs: Erdbeben: Prozesse, Gefährdung und Risiko
The course provides an overview of how the disciplines of seismology, geology and earthquake engineering interact in the assessment of seismic hazard and risk. Different methods for site characterisation as well as the input data and guidelines necessary for earthquake-resistant design are highlighted in the course.
