Abstract

The course provides an overview of how the disciplines of seismology, geology and earthquake engineering interact in the assessment of seismic hazard and risk. Different methods for site characterisation as well as the input data and guidelines necessary for earthquake-resistant design are highlighted in the course.

Objective

The participants learn the basics for the assessment of seismic hazards and risks and can use current risk models for questions in professional practice.
