Humanitarian intervention vs. war. Operation "Iraqi Freedom" shows the near incompatibility of humanitarian interventions and the use of military force. TheThis research seminar will examine both theoretical and practical aspects of humanitarian interventions during military conflicts.

There has been an inflation in the use of the term asymmetric conflicts and wars. It has become a "passe-partout word devoid of any meaning" (Umberto Eco). The lecture will show how the term asymmetry could regain content and meaning. To this end, case studies will also be examined.
