MediTirana, Designing Circular Markets
Architectural Design V-IX: MediTirana, Designing Circular Cities (H.Klumpner)
What is the image of one of Europe’s fastest growing cities? How can we design for the benefit of the local population?Where can we build public space and program for inclusion?Students will design urban scenarios, developing them into architectural prototypes of a public market while promoting equality, improving infrastructure access and alternative opportunities for locals and migrants.
Microbial Gene Technology
Praktikum I in Biotechnologie: Teil Gentechnologie
1A) Saccharomyces cerevisiae: a model organism to study human disorders 1B) Experimental strategies for site-directed mutagenesis in Salmonella typhimurium 1C) Affinity purification of a transcriptional regulator and demonstration of its DNA binding activity 2A) PCR amplification of genes from different microorganisms 2B) Site-directed mutagenesis of the hemoglobin gene from Vitreoscilla (vhb) 2C)
The goal of this course is an introduction and hands-on experience on latest mixed reality technology at the cross-section of 3D computer graphics and vision, human machine interaction, as well as gaming technology.
Modular Curves
Modulkurven
Algebraic curves, elliptic curves, moduli problems, Riemann-Roch, SL(2,R) and its discrete subgroups, modular curves, modular forms, Hecke operators
Module 1: Fire Science
Modul 1: Physikalische und chemische Grundlagen für den Lastfall Brand
No description available.
This module defines and contextualises peace mediation in relation to other conflict resolution approaches. The module focuses heavily on conflict analysis, introducing the students to the latest knowledge about conflict typologies, trends, and causes in addition to providing them with various opportunities to practice conflict analysis using diverse methods.
Module 2: Fire Safety Design
Modul 2: Grundlagen Nachweisführung im Brandschutz
Module 2 gives insight in both performance and risk based design concepts and principals. The students learn basic and advanced statistics and apply the tools to develop performance and risk based fire safety solutions.
This course offers an introduction to a wide range of research methods currently used in housing and neighbourhood studies. Students will be invited to reflect on the value of using different tools to inform evidence-based design processes and to provide rigorous answers to research question by covering all the steps of the research cycle.
Module 3: Human Behaviour and Evacuation
Modul 3: Organisatorischer Brandschutz und Evakuation
Module 3 provides knowledge on fire prevention by organizational fire safety measures, engineering-based evacuation analysis and egress and life safety.
Students learn about the content of peace processes in this module. This module combines various approaches to developing options with an examination of contemporary cases and how various content issues are managed and interlinked. The module focuses on security, power-sharing, justice, socioeconomic and environmental arrangements.
Mediators help the parties reach a peace agreement by designing and structuring the process. This module covers the basic elements of process design and how they differ. Important to process design is the reflection on theory and practice in sequencing the content to be examined. The module then explores the implications and challenges facing the implementation of peace agreements for mediators.
Module 4: Structural Fire Design
Modul 4: Baulicher Brandschutz und Heissbemessung
No description available.
The course is intended to support the students to develop their individual research proposals and to attain the necessary skills to work independently and with scientific rigour on a project leading to their final MAS thesis.
NEW ECOLOGIES — Soil, Water, Labour
Architectural Design V-IX: Albania – Project on the Countryside (M.Topalovic)
NEW ECOLOGIES is dedicated to the practice of architecture in the post-anthropocentric era. In this semester we will look at Zurich and its region through the lenses of three highly interconnected notions—soil, water and labour. Taking a close look at the influence that soil, water and labour have on the territory, will enable us to put in focus specific and urgent ecologies in the Metro Zurich.
The Master thesis concludes the study programme. Thesis work should prove the students' ability to independent, structured and scientific working.
