The course consists of a series of research seminars on Structural Biology, Biochemistry and Biophysics, given by both scientists of the National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) in Structural Biology and external speakers. This course will guide the student through the main steps of the crystal structure determination of a protein. Students will crystallize a previously purified protein, collect X-ray diffraction data, and solve the structure using computational techniques. Approximately one third of the course will be spent at the lab bench or at the X-ray diffractometer, the rest at the computer.
