Our central aim is to balance participants' respect for complexity with a sense of possibility by providing examples from the vast solution space offered by ecological systems, such as e.g. green infrastructure to manage water.

This course gives a basic introduction to modelling of ecological dynamic systems. Starting from classical models the course leads to modern modelling concepts. Following this line basic techniques of modelling ecological systems are considered. The usefulness of these techniques are demonstrated by the application of models in analysing special environmental problems.
