Physical Geodesy
Physikalische Geodäsie
Physical geodesy studies the Earth's gravity field and its relation to the shape, rotation, and mass distribution. It provides the physical foundation for determining precise positions, heights, and the Earth's reference surfaces such as the geoid.Temporal changes in the gravitational field are important indicators of global (climate) change.
Physical and Kinematic Geodesy
Physikalische und kinematische Geodäsie
Physical geodesy deals with the measurement and modeling of the Earth's gravity field. In addition to the physical consideration, kinematic measuring methods will be introduced to describe the movement of objects. Above all, inertial technology and the combination of kinematic observations using a Kalman filter will be discussed.
Space missions generate vast amounts of data — not only scientific data from payloads, but also technical data collected during testing, launch, and operations. This course provides students with practical skills in analyzing such data efficiently, using methods that are broadly applicable across space science and engineering problems.
