The size, composition and structure of these populations affects almost every aspect of our lives. At the same time, the populations surrounding us – and their changes over time and space – are the result of a myriad of individual decisions. This interaction among demographic behaviour, population and social change is the focus of this course.

Various studies are used to introduce basic sociological concepts, theories and empirical research methods, along with select sociological topics. The goal of the course is to provide participants with an understanding of working practice in empirical sociology and the central findings of sociological studies.
