Abstract
The size, composition and structure of these populations affects almost every aspect of our lives. At the same time, the populations surrounding us – and their changes over time and space – are the result of a myriad of individual decisions. This interaction among demographic behaviour, population and social change is the focus of this course.
Objective
Die Vorlesung führt in die ökonomischen und sozialen Determinanten von Heiraten, Scheidungen, Fertilität, Mortalität und Migration ein und diskutiert die Effekte von Bevölkerungsgrösse, Komposition und Struktur auf ökonomische und soziale Bedingungen.
Content
Im Zentrum des Interesses stehen einerseits die Auswirkungen gesellschaftlicher Wandlungen auf demographische Grössen (Heirat, Scheidungen, Fertilität, Mortalität, Migration) und andererseits die Rückwirkungen demographischer Entwicklungen auf Gesellschaft und Individuen. Diese Interaktion zwischen demographischem Verhalten und sozialem Wandel steht im Fokus der Vorlesung.
