Within the colloquium current research papers in the area of behavioral studies are presented. Student participants gain insight into practical research in social sciences and write an own paper on one of the topics presented in the colloquium.

The MTE subjects are primarily meant to give future engineers a solid introduction to the field, to encourage them to educate themselves further and ultimately to enable them to deal successfully with complex systems and to see technical objectives and decisions, with all consequences, against a non-technical background.

The lecture covers the following main topics: Social perception and interpersonal judgement; attitudes; group dynamics and group performance; leadership behavior and leadership styles.

Scientific insights into group dynamics are taught with direct relevance to leadership practice. Students learn through interactive experiments and case studies how social psychological principles influence team effectiveness.

The lectures on social psychology provide a scientific approach to understanding perception, communication, leadership styles and social processes in groups and organizations. The lectures on sociology use various studies to introduce basic sociological concepts, theories and empirical research methods, along with select sociological topics.
