This course introduces into approaches to decentralisation and discusses concepts of good governance at the various levels. Based on concrete case studies from Africa and the Balkan the potential and limits of development cooperation interventions to support decentralization will be examined.
The course deals with different approaches and types of evaluations within the framework of development projects. The participants acquire knowledge and skills for the use of methods for the analysis of project processes and results and their use in project management. In order to deepen the understanding, practical project examples are focused on.
This course provides contemporary information on the forestry sector and creates an overview on the use and protection of forest resources, by discussing the relation to the management of tropical and subtropical forest ecosystems. A special focus is given to the multifunctionality of forests and its relation to relevant themes of development cooperation.
