Laboratory Course in Muon Spin Rotation Spectroscopy at the Paul Scherrer Institute

Introduction and overview of various physical questions, that can be addressed with muons. Particulary, the use of polarized muons as microscopic magnetic probes in condensed matter physics will be presented (Muon spin rotation and relaxation, applications in studies of magnetism, superconductivity, semiconductors, thin film structures). Precison spectroscopy of muonium as hydrogen isotope.
