The students are going through a product development process starting with the first idea to the functional product. The participants will learn to work on a complex development task in a team (4-5 pers.), to structure a given problem, to generate and evaluate ideas as well as the design and realization of the product with subsequent verification.

Selected laboratory experiments in physics, mechanical and process engineering. With the Laboratory Training held during the fifth semester, the students learn how to handle and apply measurement methods and devices. Students are offered a diversified choice of laboratory experiments at least eleven of which must be completed. Five of the chosen experiments must be in physics.

Fundamental knowledge of outlining, sketching and technical design, visualizing and drawing for products, sketching, norms, technical design, representation and arrangement of different views and cuts, dimensioning, tolerances, fits, surfaces, representation of selected form elements, parts lists.
