The factors influencing the structure and function of mountain forests are analysed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Limiting factors along elevational gradients are evaluated, and the impacts of global change are assessed. Students engage with and critically assess contemporary concepts of mountain forest management

The field course offers an introduction to the field of mountain forest ecology and management of mountain forests. The students learn in a group to carry out a project based on a self-defined research question.
