Design and Building Process MIBS is a seminar for future architects and engineers. It explores professional roles, methodological tools, and environmental responsibility across six lectures and an accompanying workshop, structured into three complementary chapters — Profession, Methodology, and Environment — fostering a holistic, practice-oriented understanding of the building process.
ETH Week is an innovative one-week course designed to foster critical thinking and creative learning. Students from all departments as well as professors and external experts will work together in interdisciplinary teams. They will develop interventions that could play a role in solving some of our most pressing global challenges. In 2022, ETH Week will focus on the topic of urban development.

Focus works are executed in the fields of expertise of the institures of D-ARCH. The content can be proposed by the students; it will be set bey the professors of the institutes in consultation with the students. The content of a focus work can refer to an elective course or be freely chosen.
The course is organised based on research conducted at the Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) and its recent publication, Indicia 03. It introduces the background and motivations behind FCL’s focus on cities, highlighting the challenges urban areas face and approaches FCL employs to address them. The course aims to facilitate interdisciplinary knowledge exchange and critical thinking across domains.

In the third semester, the MAS thesis is to be focussed on by the students. In detail, they have to implement their methodologies in their work. The main tasks are analysis, assessments, interpretations, and adaption. The academic supervision itsfelf concentrates on the editor and proof reading.

In our third semester, we reconsider and re-evaluate our identity as a leading consultant. For this we see how the concept of leadership works on and shapes our skills. In line with our acquired knowledge we now pay attention to all involved interests: the perception of demand. Furthermore, it is a necessity to understand the tasks and duties of every role which you can take on.
