Objective

Overview on the processing methods for fibers, yarns, and fabrics, for apparel and home use. Cost, productivity and flexibility issues. Basic knowledge of the material properties, yarn structures, fabric construction, and the pertaining properties of the textile fabric. Introduction to test an measuring methods and equipment, and to quality control for textile products (ISO 9000). Introduction to the criteria of sustainability in the life cycle of textiles.

Content

Structures an properties of yarns made of natural and synthetic, staple and filament fibers. Textile fabrics: woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, non wovens. Designs and test of woven fabrics. Bleaching, dyeing, and finishing processes.
