Objective

Students learn to design a database by themselves and to understand its most important technical prerequisites. This course for non-specialists provides also a general introduction to the field of databases and information systems and to advanced courses.

Content

Design of databases (incl. data models, normalization of data, design methods), data manipulation (user demands, data manipulation languages with SQL as an example), technical background (database management systems, parallel transactions, security, data protection/privacy), outlook (distributed databases, organization).
