Abstract
This course teaches the theoretical, methodological and practical foundations fo land use planning and specifically of forest and landscape planning in the non-urban areas. The empirical sections focus on the Swiss plannign system and Swiss planning problems.
Objective
The students know the theoretical foundations, methods and tools of land use planning. The students have a comprehensive and systematic overview of the instruments in Swiss forest and landscape planning. The students know about spatially explicit reasoning. Stundent know pros and cons of the most important planning approaches and instruments.
Content
1. Planning history, theory and methods (1/4 of the course) Planning history with focus on Switzerland Planning theory and the influence of other sciences on planning theory Important elements of the planning methodology and relevant data bases 2. The Swiss spatial planning system (1/2 of the course) Planning levels and planning instruments Forests and landscapes as planning subjects Forst planning instruments Landscape planning instruments Coordination of spatial planning, forest planning and landscape planning 3. Current topics and future challenges (1/4 of the course) The new spatial concept for Switzerland (participatory planning process and preliminary results) Metropols, quiet zones, and alpine fallows as a szenario for future development Integration of spatial planning and sectoral planning
