Abstract
The first part of the course delineates the general frame of work and then concentrates on Florence and the Medici in the 15th century. The second part of the course focuses on Rome and Venice. The emphasis is on how the political and social life intertwines with literature and the figurative arts.
Objective
Students are familiar with the historical and cultural context of the social and political life in Italy between the 15th and the 16th centuries; specifically, they are acquainted with Florence, the Medici's, Rome and Venice. Furthermore, they understand the relations among politics, society, literature and the figurative arts.
