Theory of Architecture III
Architekturtheorie III
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:24:53
Abstract
Basic Concepts of Architectural Theory: The ‘building blocks’ of the theory of architecture - those concepts which are thought to determine form in the design process - are tested for their appropriateness and applicability.
Content
Eight Semester: Methodology and integrated Theories. In the last part of the lecture series the “building blocks” of theory are put into the larger context of the construction site. Here we try to reassemble the formerly tested elements to meaningful constructions. Architecture theory is illuminated from a meta-perspective of systems and disciplines such as semiotics or phenomenology. The possibilities and forms of architectural communication can be analyzed with methods from media theory, which makes it necessary to address the ethical and social dimensions.
