Abstract
The course gives an overview over the most important problems in the ecology of running waters and related fishecological problems. We will focus on the fishmanagement and the related necessary methods.
Objective
Knowledge of the native fish fauna - ecological requirements of important fish species - main impact on fishes - knowledge of methods and application of methods in the field - management options for habitat and fishes.
Content
Overview over the fish fauna of Switzerland - conservation status - possible causes of endangerment - population studies - population estimation using electrofishing - field work for population estimation - fish migration - impediment of migration - hydropower use und fishecological problems.
