Abstract

Business management, marketing, advertising and pricing; quality management; strategies for transport safety, railway safety technology, automation, and organization; energy supply, maintenance management.

Objective

To develop a full understanding of the five most important public transport system operations management processes: (1) Business management; (2) Marketing; (3) Quality control; (4) Safety and dispatching techniques in operations; (5) Asset management and maintenance. The course will teach essential working techniques in each of these processes.

Content

To develop a full understanding of the five most important management processes in the operation of public transport systems: (1) Business management: business strategies, business organization. (2) Marketing, advertising and pricing strategies. (3) Quality control: quality management systems, structuring quality control measures, collecting quality data in an operating service, use of system optimization. (4) Safety and dispatching techniques in operations: strategies for transport systems as a function of system properties, active and passive safety, risk management in railway transport, introduction to RAMS, railway safety technology, automation technology, dispatching techniques and strategies. (5) Asset management and maintenance: means and characteristics of deterioration, inspection policies, maintenance phases, asset conservation requirements, maintenance methods. Learn and use detailed analysis techniques in all these processes. Overview of practical examples.
