The student shall get the necessary knowledge for the application and interpretation of the results of isotope studies in research and applied hydrogeological investigations. The student understands the specific hydrogeological questions and aspects which are appropriate for the application of isotope methods.

Content

This course focusses on isotope methods in hydrogeology. These methods are useful for research and practice when the history of different groundwaters has to be derived. Getting the knowledge to interprete the evolution of groundwater by its isotopic and chemical composition with respect to the following informations: -Conditions of infiltration, -Formation specific origin, -Internal processes within the aquifer, which alter the chemical and isotopic composition -Groundwater residence time
