Abstract

Discussion of problems and solution approaches in information management focussing on practical applications

Objective

Information management encompasses analysis of business processes, information requirements, management of project portfolios, definition of data and application architecture, deployment and operation of IT infrastructure, controlling information provision for an organisation etc. Students will learn in this topic area: - basic knowledge in information management - analyse practical cases in order to develop a deeper understanding of provlems and solution approaches

Content

Main topics are: notion of concept, information concepts, IT-strategy, organisation and business processes, planning of information system architecture, projectportfolio management, management of information technologies, information system support and IT controlling. The corresponding concepts are first discussed theoretically and then used within case studies. The students are expected to participate acitively in the discussions.
