Abstract
Students will have an overview about the function of insects in ecosystems, how insects interact with their abiotic & biotic environment, and how they adapt to different environmental conditions. This includes knowledge on the processes of interspecific interactions involving insects on various trophic levels and the strategies of insects during these interactions.
Objective
At the end of this course, students will have an overview about the function of insects in ecosystems, how insects interact with their abiotic and biotic environment, and how they adapt to different environmental conditions. They develop skills and gain experience in focused reading of literature reports with the goal to develop appropriate answers to specific questions asked, and in presenting their answers in a condensed way. In particular, the students will have learned about the processes of interspecific interactions involving insects on various trophic levels and the strategies of insects during these interactions. Also, they will have a good understanding about the function and importance of multitrophic interactions involving insects
