Abstract
Advanced Modern Methods of Asymmetric Synthesis and their Application in Natural Product Total Syntheses.
Objective
Knowledge of modern methods in asymmetric stereocontrol and enantioselective catalysis.
Content
Preparation and reactivity of oxonium/iminium species, chiral acetals in synthesis; Conformational analysis of macrocyclic rings, macrocyclic stereocontrol; Asymmetric catalysis: introduction, mechanistic analyses, catalyst- and ligand design, control elements, substrate activation, important asymmetric catalytic reactions with special focus on synthesis; Allylic substitution reactions; The Chiron approach; Discussion of the key steps in selected, recent total syntheses in the context of diastereoselective synthesis and asymmetric catalysis.
