Abstract
Introduction to machine elements and manufacturing methods as basics of product development. Case studies of their application in products and systems.
Objective
An overview is given on the most important machine elements, their characteristics and their applications. Students get to know the most important manufacturing technologies and develop basic know-how in their application. Students are supposed to choose appropriate components for development of products and machines. In the parallel lectures/excercises "Produktentwicklung CAD" and "Produktentwicklung Technisches Zeichnen" the above is applied and further developed.
Content
- Innovation process: short introduction - Links and joints, securings, seals - Energy conductors, converters and switches - Bearings and guides - Manufacturing technologies - Physical principals - Sensors - Actuators Case studies complete and illustrate presentations of machine components.

Handouts of the lecture slides are distributed as paper copy and are available onwww.asl.ethz.ch/education/bachelor. The costs for handout prints are collected at the beginning of semester.
