Abstract

Determination of internal forces and description of structural behaviour of cable and membrane structures as well as arches and shell structures using method of graphical statics.

Objective

Based on graphical methods students are enabled to analyze the flow of forces through a structural system and to dimension the components of it.

Content

The importance of the structural system for architectural design. The nature of the notion of force and balance. Determination of internal forces and description of structural behaviour of cable and membrane structures as well as arches and shell structures using method of graphical statics. Material stress, deformation and dimensioning.
