Abstract
Medical imaging techniques for the diagnosis of anatomical and functional pathologies.
Objective
Introduction into Medical Imaging: Basic physical and technical characteristics and application of medical imaging procedures.
Content
Medical imaging techniques for the diagnosis of anatomical and functional pathologies. Analogue and digital planar X-ray procedures, transmission computed tomography, imaging in nuclear medicine with scintipraphy, single photon and positron emission tomography. Introduction to nuclear magnetic resonance, two and three dimensional imaging techniques, excitation pulse sequences and tissue differentiation, technical setup of whole body systems, localized magnetic resonance spectroscopy in-vivo. Medical ultrasound: echography, sound wave propagation in tissue, ultrasound Doppler, blood flow measurement techniques. Practical and theoretical exercises in small groups in the laboratory. Lecture notes: Biomedizinische Technik II.
