Electrical Drive Systems II
Elektrische Antriebssysteme II
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:23:48
Abstract
In the course "Antriebssysteme II" the most important converter topologies are explained. Passive rectifiers and active inverters, with man focus on the 3-level inverter with its switching and transfer functions, are explained. The applications of these building blocks on the grid and motor side are shown.
Objective
The students establish a deeper understanding in regards of the design of the main components of an electrical drive system. They establish knowledge on the most important interaction with the grid and the machine and their related high dynamic control.
Content
Converter topologies (current source, voltage source,..), Repetition of the transformer, multi-pulse diode rectifiers, Loss calculation based on the example of voltage source converters, 3-level inverter with its switching and transfer functions, grid side harmonics, Vector control on grid side, Direct Torque Control (DTC) for an electrical machine, Repetition of Common Mode voltages and currents, Reflection with power cables, winding isolation and bearing stress.
