Abstract
Design of Institutions and Policy
Objective
In this doctoral course, we discuss the optimal design of institutions and policy. In the first part, we introduce how to use the main tools in microeconomics: game theory, mechanism design, contract theory and collective decision theory. In the second part, we apply the tools to current policy problems: global public goods and climate change, political contracts and design of democracy, minority protection and collective decisions, banking and risk regulation, and the design of health care systems.
