Abstract

The course covers several related areas in judgment and decision making such as trust in interdependent choice, human judgment and expertise, reputation formation, and decision making and decision support. Besides an introduction and overview, the course emphasizes the application of insights derived from these areas. The course also covers developments in the area of internet data collection.

Objective

Main aim is to get better acquainted with judgment and decision making. For several topics, "case-files" are presented that give a structured overview the research field: brief descriptions/presentations of [1] the origin of the issue, [2] classic and contemporary studies and [3] current issues.

Content

The course covers several related areas in judgment and decision making that are related to my own research: (1) trust in interdependent choice, (2) human judgment and expertise, (3) reputation and reputation formation, and (4) decision making and decision support. Besides an introduction and overview of the current state of the art in these topics, the course emphasizes the application of insights derived from these areas. As an aside, since a substantial part of data collection takes place online nowadays, part of the course will be devoted to developments in the area of internet data collection.
