Ways of Mathematical Thinking in the Classroom
Wege mathematischen Denkens im Unterricht
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:29:10
Abstract
Participants will learn to recognize and understand different ways of thinking and progressing that learners use in mathematics lessons at the Gymnasium (with relation to recent theoretical models of mathematical teaching and learning)
Objective
Participants understand how learners think while their mathematical activities: 1. Participants will have a solid grasp of current theories about learners’ concepts, cognitive structures and styles of thinking. They will be able to discuss these theories and reflect them in a critical manner. 2. Participants will learn to identify learners’ concepts in documents produced in (their own) mathematical classes at the Gymnasium, and they will be able to relate these concepts to scientific theories of teaching and learning. These goals are the necessary preconditions for teachers to foster individual student learning, and to adapt the progress of their teaching accordingly.
Content
