Abstract

The lecture examines the works of the architect Andrea Palladio (1508-1580) and the reception of his »nuova usanza«. By exemplifying selected theoretical positions, from respective representatives from England such as Henry Wotton, Inigo Jones or Colen Campbell to Quatremère de Quincy and Le Corbusier, the key positions and main works of the phenomenon »Palladianism« are analysed.

Objective

Vermittlung eines vertieften Einblicks in den Gegenstandsbereich und die methodischen Grundlagen der Kunstgeschichte der Neuzeit. Anhand der exemplarischen Auseinandersetzung mit einer spezifischen monographischen, topographischen oder thematischen Problemstellung werden umfassende Kenntnisse der Schlüsselfiguren und Hauptwerke der jeweiligen Epoche oder des jeweiligen Themas vermittelt.
