Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:29:22
Abstract
This course focuses mainly on applications and practical work with satellite remote sensing data often within a GIS environment and integration with other geodata.
Objective
The aims of this course are threefold: - additional theoretical knowledge on processing methods, mainly classification - practical work with software systems on processing of optical satellite images, with a focus on classification - applications of satellite remote sensing, often in relation to GIS, in different disciplines with invited speakers from companies and research institutions. This part is important, since it gives to the students information about what is happening with satellite remote sensing in Switzerland and how it works in professional practice, bringing in contact students with remote sensing specialists and companies, that can be important for their future professional career. The emphasis is on the last two aims.
Content
This course will build upon the two previous courses Satellite Remote Sesning I and II. It will focus mainly on applications and practical work with satellite remote sensing data often within a GIS environment and integration with other geodata.
