Abstract
The lecture gives an introduction to optical holography and phase conjugation. The principles of holography as well as the most important types of holograms and recording media are discussed together with some of the main applications. Different mechanisms leading to optical phase conjugation and their applications are described in the final part of the lecture.
Objective
The student will get to know the field of holography and phase conjugation. Methods, materials, applications and mathematical basis of the theoretical background will be learned.
Content
The content of the lecture is structured as follows: Principles of holography; Thin and volume holograms; Holographic materials; Applications, holographic interferometry, holographic storage; Coupled wave theory; Photorefractive effects; Two-wave mixing; Four-wave mixing; Phase conjugation and self-pumped phase conjugation; Stimulated Brillouin scattering.
