Abstract
This course is dealing with structural design, stress analysis and sizing of aircraft structures. The course, which is building-up on fundamental knowledge in mechanics and lightweight structures, also includes tutorials, discussion of practical cases and demonstrations in the lab.
Objective
Develop the necessary skills identify and solve typical engineering problems related to structural design, stress analysis and sizing of aircraft structures.
Content
The course is addressing following topics: - Introduction - Design and sizing of fuselage structures. Orthotropic cylindrical structures under inner pressure - Aircraft Loads - Wing structures: Design and sizing of wing box, ribs and spars - Shear-Lag, Load-introduction, Cut-outs - Buckling design: plates, reinforced panels, diagonal tension, cylinders under external pressure and compression Demonstration in the Lab: - Buckling of reinforced panels - Profile failure
