Abstract
Basic knowledge of process engineering in field and on-farm work. Ability to assess processes from an economics of labour and a farm management point of view and to implement them correctly in practice.
Objective
Primary aim: students should have a comprehensive functional knowledge of agricultural engineering processes on the farm and in the field and be able to plan and assess their practical application, taking economics and ecology into consideration. Technical understanding should be developed in conjunction with agronomic characteristics. Secondary aims: - Familiarity with the main agricultural production processes in forage growing and arable farming. Their manner of functioning and characteristics and the economics of labour and economic aspects will be explained with reference to examples. - Establishing the basics of process engineering for on-farm work so as to permit correct implementation in practice in the context of livestock farming paying due attention to animal welfare, environmental compatibility and economics. Note: this course of lectures builds on the foundations taught in Agricultural Engineering I (winter semester 2006/07).
