Abstract
The focus is on capacity building to judge strategies and tactiques in pest management considering requirements from economy, ecology and society. A wide spectrum of management techniques will be elaborated and discussed, ranging from natural antagonists, natural and synthetic products to physical and genetic tools and novel research approaches.
Objective
The students will have a good understanding of available and possible future pest management tools for agroecosystems, as well as a sound scientific background to judge the options in the context of the criteria ecology - economy - society. In addition, they will gain skills to study scientific reports with the goal to build-up an argumentation, and to defend it in a debate.
